Pulsation dampeners and pipeline shock attenuators are classes of hydro pneumatic accumulator. All of which have
special features for their specific functions. The feature of a pulsation damper is its' ability to intercept flow fluctuations
and high frequency pressure pulsation, whereas the design of a water hammer alleviator is its' capacitance, though
an accumulator is for high velocity discharge.
